By noon we were crossing the valley that paralleled the seacoast. The Forest of Arden was to the north and our left. Amber lay directly ahead. The breezes were cool and filled with the odours of earth and its sweet growing things.
Nine Princes in Amber

The Vale of Garnath lies southward of Amber, stretching parallel with the coast. Through this valley the river Oisen flows to the sea. The valley was burned by Julian during the invasion of Bleys and Corwin in an attempt to decimate enemy forces. The Vale was also the location of the Black Road.
