Tears of the Lost
I had finally broken down and decided to go find the others when a scout brought disturbing news of the three giants’ villages in the area. One it seems has taken up worshipping Zythanimaerius’s Wolf and Crow religion and another village has been attacked by an unknown enemy. I had decided to go and investigate, and I was some distance away from the giants’ village when an almost rusty smell reached my nostrils. I opened my mouth and breathed in the attempt to better decipher the smell, and a metallic tang coated my tongue.
I quieted my mount out of habit as I drew closer to the village although that was probably unnecessary as the air was filled with a deafening caw of countless carrion eaters. I spied on of Prince Julian’s rangers step from behind cover to make his presence known and I nodded to him as I proceeded cautiously into the village. I’ve seen a lot of disturbing things in my relatively short life, but so far this takes the prize.
Before me rose a veritable mountain of corpses. But no, not just corpses; the mountain was covered in a moving black blanket. The most crows I have ever seen hopped from corpse to corpse feasting upon the dead villagers. Atop the pile stood Zythanimaerius preaching to his crows as if this was a normal tribute to his Gods. While I stood with Julian watching in mounting disgust, he turned to look at us and then transformed into a large semi-transparent crow.
Yes, it was definitely time to get in touch with the others…
We found a way out. Had to traverse The Logrus, but I think it should work. I feel like shit. Complete and utter shit. I hurt all over and my brain feels like it’s someone elses. It was much harder to keep myself together this time. I’m never doing that again.
