Entry XXVIII
Fiona called in one of her favors, and I knew it would be unpleasant, but I didn’t expect this. I am to make Zeke a member of the Council. I think Fiona must be tired of having her son be an embarrassment to her. She thinks that by making him a member of the council, it will at least give him some protection from being mocked by others.
I am afraid of what having him as a member of the Council will do to our credibility. If we give him a position of authority I doubt others would continue to take us seriously. Actually as it is, I think there are those who do not take us seriously, and soon they will learn what a mistake that is. Perhaps we can make him the council scribe…or maybe the jailer of Ironwood…
If this is her first favor, I am afraid of what her second favor will be…at least it will be the last favor I am obligated to grant. I hope that this deal I made with Fiona was worth it.
